Duncan Clark, Teysha Technologies’ Head of Business Operations, has been in this important and strategic role since November 2017. The London-based company was established with the aim of finding an answer to the modern-day issue of plastic pollution. Working with a team of leading research scientists, as well as in collaboration with specialists in process and commercialisation, Teysha Technologies is well on the way to achieving this goal.
According to the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, it is estimated that around eight million tonnes of plastic end up in the world’s oceans each and every year, which is only estimated to rise further. With the aim of finding a resolution to plastic pollution and ocean pollution, Teysha Technologies has been developing a natural product polycarbonate platform. From Teysha’s polycarbonate platform it is possible to create a wide range of polymers, each of which can be used as a substitute for traditional plastics.
Each of the polymers that Teysha Technologies has developed has tunable properties. As a result, they are suitable for a wide variety of practical applications, making them a viable solution to plastic pollution and a way of meeting the increasing demand for sustainable plastics.
The platform developed by Teysha Technologies provides the design of synthetic strategies which can be used for the development of polymer materials that come from renewable sources. These new plastic products also exhibit novel combinations of characteristics, and each polymer material undergoes hydrolytic breakdown, which is a process that creates by-products which are biologically beneficial.
Teysha Technologies is proud to offer a solution to plastic pollution through its polymer platform, which is naturally more adaptable and versatile than any single polymer system. The Teysha Technologies platform means that more natural product monomers and thiol co-monomers can be used, modified and adapted, resulting in a greater variety of final products that range from hard and stiff to soft and flexible.
The final polymer network can be further modified and expanded with a variety of other solvents and additives, creating an even larger variety of sustainable plastics on the market. Each of the products created by Teysha Technologies can be used and/or applied directly – with low capital cost – to current plant machinery.
Teysha Technologies
was founded in response to over 10 years of research and looking for a solution
to the issues of plastics pollution and ocean pollution. Teysha Technologies
was established by a group of highly experienced professionals, including Dr
Clive Rankin, Chairman; Professor Karen Wooley, Chief Technology Officer;
Matthew Stone, Managing Director; Dr Steve Taylor, Technology Development
Director; Dr Ashlee Jahnke, Head of Research and Development; and Duncan Clark,
Teysha Technologies’ Head of Business Operations.
